Theatre Studies, Dramaturgy, and Brazilian Theatre History
Marta Metzler is a researcher, author, and university professor whose academic work focuses on theatre studies, dramaturgy, and Brazilian theatre history. Holding a Ph.D. in Performing Arts from UNIRIO, with doctoral research conducted in collaboration with the University of Lisbon, she combines historical research, critical analysis, and artistic practice to investigate the development of Brazilian theatre and its cultural significance.

Her academic career includes teaching, research, publication, and the development of cultural and educational initiatives that connect universities, artists, and communities. Her work has been published in books, academic journals, and reference publications dedicated to theatre and performance studies.

Based on extensive archival research, the book reconstructs Alda Garrido’s trajectory within the theatre of magazines and popular entertainment traditions, contributing to the preservation of Brazilian theatrical memory and to a broader understanding of the cultural history of performance in Brazil.
