My Contribution

I conceived, researched and wrote the book, conducting extensive archival research based on primary sources, historical documents and period newspapers. The project combined historical investigation, critical analysis and theatre historiography to reconstruct one of the most remarkable theatrical initiatives of early twentieth-century Brazil.

Project Overview

Nature Theatre: History and Ideas investigates the Brazilian Nature Theatre, an open-air theatrical initiative created in Rio de Janeiro in 1916. Based on extensive archival research, the book reconstructs the project's history, artistic conception, repertoire and cultural context, offering a new understanding of its place in Brazilian theatre history. While acknowledging its inspiration in the international open-air theatre movement, the study demonstrates that the Brazilian Nature Theatre developed according to distinct artistic and cultural principles. Originally developed as the author's Master's dissertation in Theatre, the research was later published by Editora Perspectiva.
